New Livery Bill

The Daily News Blog covered a story about a possible new livery bill:

"Nearly 100 taxi drivers from across the city gathered today in City Hall Park to rail against the bill, which would allow livery cabs -- or "black cars" -- to purchase special permits to pick up street fares in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Upper Manhattan, where yellow cabs are often scarce." ~Daily News Blog

Smartphone Apps for Dispatch Use








The NYC TLC Responds to the following:

Their response:
"In response to inquiries regarding the status of smartphone apps that offer or appear to offer for-hire transportation services to the general public, the Commission is clarifying the circumstances in which a smartphone app is required to hold a base license, and also to remind licensees of Commission rules that may be pertinent to FHV bases which contract with smartphone app developers and FHV drivers who use these apps."
